Abstract:
Boundaries of the seven King County Unincorporated Community Service Areas (CSA). The Community Service Areas were designed to encompass the unique features of King County unincorporated communities. They are intended to bring together communities of interest within a geographic setting for outreach and engagement by King County staff. The layers show what CSA community members live in as well as what CSA existing and potential projects occur in.
Purpose:
The layer was created to define the boundaries of the seven unincorporated Community Service Areas. The CSA boundaries were created as a result of ordinances adopted by the King County Council to improve interaction between representatives of King County and residents of unincorporated King County. The layers will assist representatives of King County and the general public to identify service areas for unincorporated King County. The layers will also inform descriptions of community projects undertaken by King County Departments and Agencies as well as to help identify locations of other projects in the CSAs.

Implemented KCCP2020 LUMA changes that affected Urban Growth Boundary due to requirement for UGA: LUMA 5.a - East Cougar Mountain; LUMA 6 - Maple Valley UGA Changes. These changes had previously been implemented in the layer after the adoption of the 2020 KC Comprehensive Plan, then rolled-back due to changes to the corresponding King County Countywide Planing Policies needing to be ratified, which happened June 1, 2021.
