Summary

This high-resolution tessellated, vector dataset consists of land cover classifications derived from countywide multispectral imagery.

These classifications were extracted by Ecopia by leveraging AI-based classification of aerial imagery collected in 2023 for the area of interest (AOI) in King County.

Random locations were QC’d by King County employees for accuracy.

This dataset is not intended for use as a surveyed product.

Description

For more information about the specific land classification definitions used in this dataset see below:Agriculture: Pasture/Hay:Definition: Areas of grasses, legumes, or grass-legume mixtures planted for livestock grazing or the production of seed or hay crops, typically on a perennial cycle and not tilled.Agriculture: Cultivated Crops:Definition: Areas intensely managed for the production of annual crops.

This class also includes all land being actively tilled.Bare Land:Definition: Delineated surface that is primarily distinguished based on visual color.

Brown/Light Yellow.Bridges:Definition: Driving surfaces that elevated from terrain level.

This does not include walking paths.Building Footprints/Roof Outlines:Definition: Building Footprints are a georeferenced polygonal interpretation of the geometric footprint of each building.

The footprint is derived from the roofline and the wall façade to correctly interpret where a structures foundation meets the ground.

Building Under Construction:Definition: Incomplete structures greater than 100 sq.

ft – at a minimum a foundation and structure must be present.Compacted Surface:Definition: Areas where vehicle traffic is prevalent, and earth/soil appear to be highly compacted.Deck:Definition: Surface that is attached to a structure that is not concrete – as visible from imagery.Docks:Definition: A structure extending alongshore or out from the shore into a body of water.Road:Definition: Edge of roadway, including curbs.

In the case where roads overlap, or where they are elevated from the ground, the elevated/overlapping surface(s) will be classified as bridges, and the terrain surface will be classified as road.

Road Unpaved:Definition: Edge of roadway.

As defined by where the surface type changes or ends.

Distinguished by color and texture.

Driveway:Definition: Paved Surface from edge of curb to structure.Unpa
