Implemented Land Use and Zoning map amendments from the 2024 King County Comp Plan Amendment ordinance #19881, Effective January 2nd, 2025. Changed shape field type to MS SQL Server Native geometry.

Implemented KCCP2020 LUMA changes that affected Urban Growth Boundary due to requirement for UGA: LUMA 5.a - East Cougar Mountain; LUMA 6 - Maple Valley UGA Changes.

These changes had previously been implemented in the layer after the adoption of the 2020 KC Comprehensive Plan, then rolled-back due to changes to the corresponding King County Countywide Planing Policies needing to be ratified, which happened June 1, 2021.

Correct boundary changed by 2020 King County Comprehensive Plan Update LUMA 1 - Woodinville Roundabout

Implement 2020 King County Comprehensive Plan Update, Land Use Map Amendments (attachment D) and Special District Overlay amending sections in the main body of the ordinance.

Adopting Ordinance is #19146 - Final Action 7/24/2020 - Effective Date is 8/20/2020.

Made changes to the urban growth area as adopted in the 2016 King County Comprehensive Plan ordinance #18427, December 5th 2016

Added Rainier Ridge 4 to 1 to the urban area in the vicinity of Black Diamond.

Moved Skyokmish UGB to match redrawn cadastral Data. Merged features into minimum number required to have begining and endpoints of features only where required to define the Urban Growth Area polygon's topology corners. Removed many gaps and overlaps in the process. The direction of the features has been edited such that rural areas are always on the same side of the features.

Made alignments with redrawn (improved spatial accuracy) cadastral layer in the vicinity of Maple Valley Grand Ridge annexation.

Also cleaned up some overlapping arcs in other portions of the county.

Implemented changes adopted by 2012 King County Comprehensive Plan. Adjusted some features to align with parcels that have been redrawn in the vicinity of other features updated.

In 2002, the entire UGA/UGB data set was rigorously checked against implementing ordinance sources and made to match the then current KC parcel layer.

With the Advent of GIS in King County the "urban growth boundary line" was implemented in GIS and an "Urban Growth Area" polygon layer was derived from it.

The actual features in the "Urban Growth Area" and "Urban Growth Boundary" GIS layers were generally derived from a series of parcel GIS layers that were developed for each Community Plan that was adopted in the 1980s.

Some additional features were drawn in from other GIS layers such as streams, and Still other features were added via Coordinate Geometry functions, or digitized from other paper maps.

The layers were subject to the same annual amendment process each subsequent year until present.

As the changes were made each year the changing portions of the layer would be positionally adjusted to best match the latest version of the KC Parcel layer.

The 1985 KC Comprehensive Plan included an "urban growth boundary line" this line was delineated by KC urban planners following roads, parcels lines and other geographic features depicted on manually drafted zoning maps.

The line as delineated by planners was modified by KC Council and adopted.

Each year a process of amending the urban growth boundary was undertaken, the planners would propose changes, the Council would individually accept or deny each change and optionally make additional changes.
