Purpose

~/DataImages/zoning_changes.jpg

Changes affecting the outright or potential zoning designations including development condition suffixes to the official King County zoning map after February 1995 up to the present day.

Abstract

Changes affecting the outright or potential zoning designations including development condition suffixes to the official King County zoning map after February 1995 up to the present day.

When the instrument of change is known the Ordinance number and effective date is provided.

An exhaustive search of rezones has not been conducted and likely accounts for some undocumented changes.

Changes adopted by the ordinance #12823 and #12824 removed all previously existing p-suffix and special district overlay development conditions in unincorporated King County and applied an entirely new set with changed numeric references.

These ordinances were considered the third and final phase of the first comprehensive plan implementation consistent with the Washington Growth Management Act.

This layer establishes the starting point for the development condition changes tracked in the Historic Land Use Change Database..

Change history

4/28/2022

Changes were produced by referencing 1990s & 2000s era GIS feature classes, official adopted ordinance documents and other historic data sources. Additionally the 1995 Zoning Ordinance# 11653 feature class was compared to the current zoning_area feature class and all changes were compared to what was produced initially and any undocumented changes were added to the layer for future use in identifying errors and recording additional documentation. Various methods were used to find conflicts between the various changes and reconcile them. Addition improvements are expected to occur over time as users identify additional resources to resolve conflicts and populate undocumented features.
