Why was the data set created?

Comprehensive plan land use for King County jurisdictions.

How was the data set created?

  1. From what previous works were the data drawn?
  2. How were the data generated, processed, and modified?
    Date: 01-Sep-2016 (process 1 of 1)
Agency data layers compiled if available in GIS format, created from land use maps if no GIS data available. Land use codes and descriptions field names standardized. Data clipped by relevant jurisdiction and then edgematched. Overlapping polygons ignored, but polygon gaps filled, and coded as 'Undesignated'.
  3. What similar or related data should the user be aware of?

How reliable are the data; what problems remain in the data set?

  1. How well have the observations been checked?
Compilation of data from various agencies GIS data, with minimal changes, Quantitative Attribute Accuracy unknown in most cases. In cases where GIS data was not available, the most recent land use planning map used as source data.
  2. How accurate are the geographic locations?
Where data was generated by an agencies land use map, if boundaries were concurrent with the county wide zoning layer, the zoning boundaries take precedence, if no zoning boundaries are relevant, boundaries were aligned to digital land use maps, and the King County parcel layer in that order. Where the source is an agencies GIS data, positional accuracy is unknown.
  3. How accurate are the heights or depths?
  4. Where are the gaps in the data? What is missing?
Contains planned land use for all jurisdictions in King County in their area of responsibility. All areas in the county are assigned a land use code, save for the major water bodies (Puget Sound, Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish). In areas where the responsible jurisdiction is silent, polygons are coded as 'Undesignated'.
  5. How consistent are the relationships among the observations, including topology?
Compilation of data from various agencies GIS data, Conceptual Consistency unknown in most cases. Some polygons overlap - errors from source data. In cases where GIS data was not available, the most recent land use planning map used as source data. In all cases, in areas where the responsible jurisdiction is silent, polygons are coded as 'Undesignated'.
