Abstract: Zoning boundaries and codes for all of King County. The County and the cities within the county define zoning designations and boundaries within their separate jurisdictions. This data layer is a full-county composite of all of the separate zoning schemes which together include more than 800 unique zoning codes. The zoning data for unincorporated King County was compiled by the King County Department of Permitting and Environmental Review. King County GIS staff compiled the remainder of the data layer either from digital data provided by individual cities, or from city-produced zoning maps. Zoning boundaries included in this layer for Muckleshoot Indian Reservation lands that are within the City of Auburn have been designated by the City of Auburn rather than by the Muckleshoot Tribe. These designation are therefore not authoritative and have no legal basis or enforceability. This detailed zoning layer has also been used to create three additional zoning layers with the designations consolidated into 13, 20, and 36 generalized categories. PLEASE NOTE: These data are not maintained on a regular basis and are several years out of date. No research, analysis, or decisions should be based on these data without verification of current zoning or land use information for the area of interest.

Access: Access to the detailed version of King County zoning (ZONING_KC_DETAIL_AREA) is limited to King County internal users only. This limitation is applied as this layer is a compilation of multiple third-party source data, primarily that from various city zoning layers. King County GIS has a standing policy not to redistribute third-party data, as the currency of this compiled version cannot be assured to be consistently in synch with the source data and users requiring data for a specific city area are directed to contact the city for the most current, up-to-date data.
