Title:
2010 King County (iTen) Orthoimagery - 6 in Natural Color and Color Infrared imagery for western King County and SW Snohomish County
Abstract:
2010 King County Natural Color and Color Infrared orthoimagery acquired by iTen Associates under full leaf-on conditions in February and March. Coverage is western King County and SW Snohomish County at a pixel resolution of 0.5 foot GSD. Lower resolution (12 inch) imagery is being acquired in August for the balance of the County.
Supplemental_Information:
The orthoimagery is hosted in the King County Spatial Data Warehouse in the standard township-range tiling scheme and can be viewed with existing GIS and image viewing software.
Township tiles have been compressed at 15X using MrSid compression software. Losslessly-compressed 7500x7500-ft tiles will be available. Full resolution TIF tiles at the 7500-ft level are available only offline.

Why was the data set created?

Natural color orthophoto imagery for King County and portions of adjoining counties. Color infrared imagery can also be used for various vegetative and impervious surface analyses.

How was the data set created?

  1. From what previous works were the data drawn?

  2. How were the data generated, processed, and modified?

    Date: 03-Aug-2010 (process 1 of 3)
Data acquired from iTen Associates on a portable HD

    Date: Jul-2008 (process 2 of 3)
7500x7500 TIF tiles were losslessly compressed to MrSid v3 format. Each tile was briefly inspected for compliance to specifications, including horizontal accuracy (if tile contained control point(s)), and quality of elevated roadway structure rectification.

    Date: Jul-2008 (process 3 of 3)
MrSid v3 Township tiles were created from the full-resolution 7500-ft TIFs. The compression level was 15x.

  3. What similar or related data should the user be aware of?

How reliable are the data; what problems remain in the data set?

  1. How well have the observations been checked?

There are no attributes associated with these raster data formats.

  2. How accurate are the geographic locations?

One-hundred one (101) ground control points were identified on the imagery. X-Y coordinate points were collected and X and Y offset (Photo - Ground Control) and RMS analysis was performed.
A spreadsheet of the tabular information can be found at <http://www5.kingcounty.gov/sdc/raster/ortho/photo_control_master_10n050_RMSError.xls>.
    Overall RMS (root-mean square error) is calculated as 1.8 feet (X) and 1.6 (Y), equivalent to a RMS of 0.51m (X) and 0.21m (Y).

  3. How accurate are the heights or depths?

    Not Applicable

  4. Where are the gaps in the data? What is missing?

Tiles were created for all standard township-range tiles that have at least some data within their extent.
Data was acquired in three main phases: 1. February 18 through February 21 2. Februrary 22 3. March 19 through March 20.
The defined lowland (6 inch) acquisition area was not fully completed due to snow and weather conditions in the far eastern part of the acquisition area. This area will be captured during the upland (12 inch) campaign.

  5. How consistent are the relationships among the observations, including topology?

How can someone get a copy of the data set?
